The Bray Road Beast Documentary {REVIEW} Video.

Farmlands, the Midwest, Brewers Baseball, and Cheese... things you think of when someone says Wisconsin. {I can't believe he didn't mention.....the Packers, come on}

I recently went to Wisconsin researching some of America's Legends and Folklore for some future film projects and fell in love with the area.

From its diverse culture, and awesome food markets, to beautiful landscapes.. Wisconsin is indeed a great location to be.  And just like any other state, it has its share of spooky tales of Ghosts and Haunting's, UFO sightings, Demonic Cults, and even modern fictional lore like Slender Man.

But, something is roaming the back roads of rural America, something is outside the small town of Elkhorn, WI. A legend so troubling, so disturbing it is simply called a Beast.

Seth Breedlove and Small Town Monsters have taken on the task of documenting America's lesser known stories and presenting them to you in a way that it will linger in the back of your mind as you travel the roads around the country.  Wondering what lies just beyond the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The location is just outside ElkHorn, Wisconsin.  The road is called Bray, and the Beast is well, a wolf? a man? a WereWolf? a Dogman.

Join Seth and his talented crew along with author Linday Godfrey "Beast of Bray Road" as they take you to the locations, speak to the families, and introduce you to eyewitnesses as the history of this creature unfolds.

With some of the Best camera work I've seen so far from this crew, and the animation scenes surpassing all previous works in some of the earlier films this documentary will leave you wanting more.  Narrated by Legend Hunter Lyle Blackburn, and written by Seth and his lovely bride Adrienne Breedlove Small Town Monsters is putting Americas Legends on the Map.

The passion for storytelling is ever so present, Seth and crew have found a Niche' Market, a Genre that never gets old, and as they continue to evolve, to harness their craft, getting better and better with each new film.

This! is Hands down, the best film from them to date.

If you want to see something scary this Halloween Season,  Then check out Bray Road Beast from Small Town Monsters,  out on streaming platforms like Vimeo and Amazon TOMORROW.

Boggy Creek Monster Documentary - REVIEW

This film, hits home with me.  I met the filmmaker Seth Breedlove as he was in the area of Boggy Creek ie. Fouke, Arkansas.  We were both scouting the area during a festival for filming purposes.

Seth and his Small Town Monster crew have been tackling some really cool stories, some I am filming about (i'm not done ...stupid OCD).

While our styles are different, I absolutely love his method.

The movie "The Legend of Boggy Creek" has inspired many Legend Hunters such as Lyle Blackburn and his book "Beast of Boggy Creek" and film makers such as myself and Seth and his Small Town Monsters Crew.

This one hit home because I've been in these swamps, I've also interviewed some of the same folks that this film introduces to the world.  And with the phenomenal Kickstarter campaign that funded this film all I can say is WOW!.

They upgraded their equipment and lens, and it really translates the storytelling even more so.  Great camera work and eyewitness storytelling with even more great Artwork.  This one here I'm not sure they can top.

By far my favorite film from them so far.  I'll add the trailer here but I will not tell anymore about the contents of the film other than while filming............. they too captured a Unique sound that can't be identified...."happened to us too"

Beast of Whitehall Documentary - REVIEW

Seth Breedlove and Small Town Monsters are at it again.  After crossing paths with Seth and his crew and checking out his Minerva Monster Documentary I knew bigger things were coming down the line.

With upgraded equipment, more staff, and a tad bit larger budget than the previous production.  The crew headed out to reveal the Beast of WhiteHall in New York to the world.

And they nailed it again.  With their signature style of letting those involved tell their stories in their own words, letting you the viewer connect, pulling you into the story.

Just like sitting and listening to an old friend tell you what had happened to them.

With the larger budget and connections made from the previous Documentary the Artwork has become collectors items.  And Advertising a story or product starts with great Artwork, and becomes a classic in itself with the storytelling.

The trailer tells you what you need to know as I do not want to give any information away to detract from this great film.  Sure to win some awards, and is just film #2 of many more to come.   I highly recommend watching this if you are into Cryptid stories.

Minerva Monster Documentary - REVIEW

Awhile back while out filming we crossed paths with a Gentleman and his crew after they had just introduced the world to a legend.

Seth Breedlove and his father were scouting around Fouke, Arkansas for an upcoming documentary at the Boggy Creek Festival in Fouke.  We talked shop as we were also in the area for some B roll filming.

I grabbed a copy of the first film from his Company Small Town Monsters at his booth and hurried home with it.

And for someone's first film......I was thoroughly impressed.

The entire story is told from the perspective of people who were there and who witnessed the events or their aftermath.

You the viewer will feel as though you are
simply sitting in a room with the person on camera, hearing their story.

The story telling is incredibly well done, especially considering the fact that it is completely narrated by eyewitness and/or persons involved testimony. Never once did I feel something was “missing” from the story without dedicated narration. And as someone who is currently filming, I understand the interview process and how tedious it can be and the amount of time to get certain sections of the story in such a way that it could be placed together as seamlessly as the resulting finished product.

Overall, Minerva Monster is a great examination of a small town and its claim to cryptozoological fame. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in cryptozoology.

More exciting things coming from these guys... keep watching out for Small Town Monsters.

Something in the Woods - Movie REVIEW

Hollywood has run out of original content, it's that or the production studios are tired of taking risks on people with no names.  So we get mediocre content, or worse... a reboot to a classic that should be left well enough alone.... Seriously we needed to remake Poltergeist?... I think not.

That is.....UNTIL NOW! Along comes Something in the Woods.  Thank goodness for Indie Film Makers!

Rare these days are movies with heart, with passion and most of all original content.  That is about to change.  Recently I met up with the Directors of Something in the Woods as they let us have a sneak peek at their film. I can sum it up in one word... WOW!

A blending of real life reports, great story telling, throw in some action and suspense and you roll it all into a Family Friendly movie...... ABSOLUTELY EPIC!

The plot is inspired by the true story known as The Cowman Of Copalis Beach, about a Bigfoot sighting in the town of Copalis Beach, Washington in the 1960's.

The creature was dubbed "cowman" because the boy who first came across this Sasquatch described him as "hairy and stinky like the cows," as he was caught in a barbed wire fence.

The story follows the Hartman family and their dealings with a legendary creature when it begins coming around their farm house deep in the woods in the late 1960's. The movie follows the frightening and surreal occurrences at the farm that drive a family away from their home.

These occurrences have never been explained and are still talked about by the locals and around the campfire. After these strange and scary things happen at John Hartman's small family farm, there is only one thing to do, stand his ground against something that the rest of the world says doesn't exist... until he realizes that nothing is more important than the safety of his family.

David Ford and Tony Gibson make their directorial debuts with the film along with Stuart Miller Executive producer.  David Ford also stars as John Hartman, alongside Angela Harger, Kayden Grisham, Mike L. Hall, Jon Bonzor, Terry Milam, Stuart Miller, Ray Watters, Dashiell Smith, Travis Driver,Tony Gibson, John Jones and Anthony Powell

The film was funded solely through sponsors and donations.

Check out the trailer here and help support this cast and crew by pre ordering your DVD now.

The team is currently out in California now seeking a Distribution Contract.  Watch the Trailer, and use your social media with the hash tags #SITWMovie #BlogOfOdd   Lets get the word out that this film..........is a MUST SEE.

Review: Exists Movie Directed By:Eduardo Sánchez

For five friends, it was a chance for a summer getaway- a weekend of camping in the Texas Big Thicket. But visions of a carefree vacation are shattered with an accident on a dark and desolate country road. In the wake of the accident, a bloodcurdling force of nature is unleashed-something not exactly human, but not completely animal- an urban legend come to terrifying life...and seeking murderous revenge.

You guys all know my love for horror, and my passion for a good Cryptid Story.  Eduardo Sanchez and his entire crew are the first ones to pull off the impossible.  A perfect blending of found footage (even though I'm not fond of that style) plus a huge Hairy Hominid whose Pissed off and doesn't even bother taking names......... just kicks ass.

Who can blame him...... most 20 some things always leave trash in the woods, get a little to rowdy, running off to have sex in the woods.

The story......works and flows great.  The cinematography is Excellent.  Horror films do not get to me, I just like the genre.  The camera angles and techniques used in the film, made my loving wife our in house Continuity expert, jump several times, and I caught myself flinching a couple of times as I was caught off guard.

That's hard to do, as based on camera angles, and foreshadowing I usually ALWAYS know what's happening next.........oh no NOT with this film.

Outstanding film!  Kudos

Go out can grab a copy today.  It's worth every penny.  If I ever get the chance to meet any of the Crew on this project at the many conventions we attend... I'm getting my copy signed!

I've broken out the Probes......I give it.

Review: Inspectres Movie

We were recently sent a screening of a New Independent film by its Director  Darren Orange for review.

Dealing with the Independent industry like we do, we are strong supporters of Independent films,  yes the budgets are smaller, yes the equipment is not of the same quality..... seriously who can afford some of that gear, but the content coming out of the minds of these guys rival Hollywood.

And if you have  been paying attention to what Hollywood has been producing, you'll notice that they are stuck in the Reboot rut, or simply rehashing a concept to death.... seriously Cinderella has been done to death, with yet another version about to be released.

So finding the Independent Film scene has been a breath of fresh air.

Inspectres is fresh new comedy reminiscent of Ghost Busters, meets  Men in Black, meets, RIPD.

In a world where ghosts, ghouls, and goblins are a common place, the InSpectres are the only exterminators capable of eliminating these supernatural nuisances! After a run in with a zombie, Lucas joins the InSpectres as an agent in training. He, his mentor Tracey, and company embark on eerily funny adventure aimed at re-capturing entities freed from a government holding facility by a corporate saboteur. They encounter a variety of released oddities on their path to identifying the saboteur: an invisible Hollywood fan-boy, a party animal wolf-man, and a group of German gremlins who fix 8-Bit arcade machines. The motley crew tracks the culprit across the country to prevent Armageddon. In the end, the Inspectres' heart and persistence prove exactly why they are the ones who "...fight the forces of darkness so you don't have to!"

The cinematography was  pretty Damn good,  as was it's scripting.  I hesitate  on special effects only because I do effects, and it's a pet peeve of mine, nothing more, I just have OCD When it comes to effects lol.

However it is a fun film, and very entertaining, and talking with the director, who ironically is the nephew to a fellow Paranormal researcher I'm friends with, it has been a blast dealing with this crew.  I look forward, to seeing more work from these guys.

For your first major project, you guys knocked it out of the park.

Kudos!

I give it....... 4 out of 5 PROBES

Hope to catch up with you guys at an upcoming Convention sometime soon.

GO HERE to purchase your digital copy,  GO HERE to purchase your physical copy for Christmas now.  It's available  to Stream, Download, DVD, and Blu-ray.

Bigfoot located, in Oklahoma..... and Damn! Squatch Tastes good

While out on a recent adventure in Texas, tracking down some leads on some stories to come later, I had to do some trekking in Oklahoma.  And I am glad  I changed  my route on the GPS....

Ok fine I made a wrong turn and GPS put me on a new path.

They say all things happen for a reason, and I'll be one of the first to say wholeheartedly  who can deny fate.

Out on Hwy 69, about 53 miles North of the Oklahoma  / Texas  border, in a little  town of Caney, OK  you will come across a unique BBQ joint.

Look to your left and you will see Bigfoot's BBQ.  A small family run diner that's huge on flavor.

I always try to visit small businesses when I am out and about.  Fast food chains I can go to anywhere, and I am a big supporter of small business.  I can be frequently spotted at some roadside diner along Interstate Anywhere USA.

Bigfoot's BBQ  just screamed to me STOP!  And who am I for confrontation.  So I marked my GPS  as I had a scheduled  meeting to get to in Texas.

On my return trip I got all giddy pulling into the parking lot.  It's not every day you spot a location with a Cryptid in its name... and I seek these locations out!

Boy let me tell you, mmm mmm mmm.  The expression here in the south is , "it's so  good you'll  slap yah momma".. ... sorry momma.

I went with the pork tenderloin platter..(my cardiac Doctor will kill me).... wow my mouth is watering just thinking back to this experience.  Juicy, tangy, sweet heaven in your mouth.  No other way to describe it.

Not only is the food great, the prices are easy on the checkbook  too.  The staff is polite, and the service.... my drink never ran empty.

Oh..... there's a Bigfoot inside too awaiting photo opts too.
To date  the best Cryptid  themed BBQ joint I've  been to yet.

So if your heading through Oklahoma,  it's worth the drive on hwy  69... pop into Bigfoot's  BBQ.  Tell them Jaydee  from ParaPalooza  sent yah.

Be safe, seek out your own oddities, and enjoy your travels.

Review: The Evil Within? More like The Horror Within

Sneaking around, climbing leaders, avoiding chainsaw men, and figuring out death traps?

First off, I would like to say "This is the game we've been waiting for". Godfather of survival horror games "Shinji Mikami" (creator of the Resident Evil series) brings us his latest master piece.

My first 18hrs 25min 32secs play through on survival mode was insanely challenging, fun, and scary!

The game starts out with Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners, Joseph Oda and Julie Kidman arrive at a gruseome crime scene at a mental asylum. Sebastian, and Joseph investigates and see everyone in the asylum were massacred. They check things out in the camera room. Sebastian see's a mysterious figure slashing 3 police officers just a few moments before he, and his team arrived. Sebastian turns around, and the figure that was on the computer screen, is now behind him, then attacks him. Sebastian wakes up tied upside down in a meat locker filled with other corpse. Sebastian escapes, and fight through the world of evil, in the search of his friends.

Pros and Cons.

I have to admit this game does have one con.

The only problem I had with The Evil Within, was the bugs. The game just came out on Tuesday 10/14/14. Bugs were expected. I really didn't have that many issues with the game. I spent 3 days playing it, all day, and ending the session at 3 o'clock in the morning. The game is gory, but it doesn't over do it. There will be times that you have to run, because the enemies are unbeatable.

The things I enjoyed most about this game, was the game play, story, and the difficulty. The game play is a mixture of The Last Of Us, and Resident Evil 4. You're left with very little ammo at times, you have to use stealth instead. The story is amazing, you will be craving to play the next chapter, just to that happens next!

RATE?

I give The Evil Within,

-Amazing game play
-Amazing story
-Keeps you on the edge at all times
-Horror is perfect
-Perfect puzzles, and traps

Like I said earlier there are bugs, but will be fixed soon.

Review: Willow Creek Bigfoot is On the Rampage.

Director Bobcat Goldthwait has stepped into the Cryptozoology realm with his latest film Willow Creek.

Jim and his girlfriend Kelly are visiting the infamous Willow Creek, the alleged home of the original Bigfoot legend - the tale of huge ape like creatures that roam the forests of North America. It was there that in 1967, the legendary beast was captured on film and has terrified and mystified generations since.

Keen to explore more than 50 years of truth, folklore, misidentifications and hoaxes, Kelly goes along for the ride to keep Jim happy, whilst he is determined to prove the story is real by capturing the beast on camera.

Deep in the dark and silent woods, isolated and hours from human contact, neither Kelly or Jim are prepared for what is hidden between the trees, and what happens when the cameras start rolling...

Sadly, this movie was not what I was expecting.  I'm not fond of the Blair Witch found footage type movies.  I was when Blair Witch came out, but now for the past few years EVERYONE is doing that type of film.

Don't get me wrong........I've seen some BAD straight out movies about Bigfoot.

This one is entertaining, just not what I was expecting from Bobcat Goldthwait.

It's Still worth sitting down to watch.

Review: Alien Abduction

Alien Abduction (2014) directed by Matty Beckerman

This is the story of a family that runs into some trouble as they drive along a mountain road. There isn't a whole lot I can say about this movie, mostly because I lost interest as I was watching and played a couple of games and read my Facebook page.

It didn't hold my attention until the very end. I would have to say that the last 2 minutes of the movie are the best with maybe an interesting scene near the beginning.

If you have nothing better to do or you just like alien abduction movies then you should not miss this one otherwise I say NAY.

Review: Big Ass Spider! Has Asses.......oh and Spiders!

Alex (Greg Grunberg) is an exterminator who really cares about what he does and the people who need him. When a military experiment goes horribly wrong Alex and his new sidekick Jose (Lombardo Boyar) set out to save the city and win the girl in  Big Ass Spider (2013) directed by Mike Mendez.
There are alot of really cheesy, bad, spider movies out there, but I have to say that Big Ass Spider although cheesy, isn't bad. Aside from the Big Ass Spider and people getting eaten and torn apart its not all that scary but really frickin hilarious.

If you are in the mood for a light horror movie I say YAY on Big Ass Spider.

I would rank this one, a 3 out of 5 on Our Alien Probe Meter!

The Beast of Boggy Creek ~Lyle Blackburn {Book Review}

A while back I met an Author speaking at an Event that caught my attention.  Both the author in his rugged appearance and the legend that he had written about.  For years I had heard stories of this elusive creature, and as we all know researching via the internet can be a headache at times trying to find legit sources among all the misinformation that plague many websites.

I sat and listened to him speak to visitors at the charity event, listened to his lecture with my full undivided attention.  Then I picked his brain for a time as I was seeking guests for a radio program that was on at that time called Haunted Voices Radio, as the show covered all sorts of topics in the Paranormal Field.

I grabbed a copy of his book, and Mr. Blackburn was even gracious enough to sign it for me.  Lyle Blackburn is a down to earth researcher and a damn good writer.

He's written for Rue Morgue Magazine as well as Monstro Bizzaro.  I decided that I would sit down with his book and try to force my way though it like I have done so many in the past.  The days of self publishing.........aren't all that great at times.

Well after about 5 pages into The Beast of Boggy Creek...I was hooked, and could not put this thing down.  Every spare moment I had I was going through the pages,  rereading events even, based on the detail he put into it.  I was completely done with this book, all 258 pages in just 2 days.  A feat for me to say the least based on my busy schedule.

So what is the Fouke Monster you ask.  Lyles attention to detail, chronicled encounters, discussions of the different theories are unlike any other paranormal and cryptzoological book I have ever had in my hands.

From the Back Cover.
For more than a century, reports of a strange beast known as the Fouke Monster have circulated among the locals in southern Arkansas. Described as a large, hairy man-like creature, it's said to haunt the vast Sulphur River Bottoms as it travels the secluded waterway known as Boggy Creek.

Over the years, the creature has been seen by numerous witnesses including respected citizens, experienced hunters, famous musicians, and even a police officer. The encounters were often so shocking, they served as inspiration for the classic horror film, The Legend of Boggy Creek, by Charles B. Pierce.

Tales of the creature have long existed in scattered pieces across news clippings, memoirs, police reports, and movies, but it is only now that the complete history of the Fouke Monster has been assembled in one place. This book collects all the facts, theories, and amazing sighting reports, and weaves them into a fascinating tale about this undeniable southern mystery, one that lives on, as frightening encounters with the Beast of Boggy Creek are still being reported today!

** Includes a detailed sighting chronicle with over 70 visual encounters near Fouke, Arkansas!

This book is a Must READ!!!!!  You will not be disappointed.  And he just released another book (that I will be reviewing very soon, and I understand he has others in the works.)  This is a book you will not be able to put down.

Click here to visit Lyle's Site and Purchase this great read, and his other items of interests.

Book Review: Simply Weird The Fake History Of Weird Comics Incorporated A Fake Comic Book Company

Recently at VisionCon in Branson I ran across an author I thought you all should take a look at.  Not only has he written a unique book, he's also an Actor, Director, Producer and all around nice guy.  We chatted for a bit, and we discussed a review of his latest piece.

William Robert Webb III was born on Friday the 13th in the month of June in the year 1986. He has always had an interest in writing. Webb has also worked in film, recently working as a Camera Operator and Actor on the Horror movie PMS Cop.He currently resides in Springfield, Missouri and is friends with Missouri artist Ian Cambpell who Illustrated the cover to this book.

Simply Weird The Fake History Of Weird Comics Incorporated A Fake Comic Book Company

Weird Comics Incorporated (AKA WCI) is known for its odd characters such as Koltar The Mighty Immortal, The Crimson Protector, Moonchild, Captain Saltire and Claws Son of Santa.

You could find out how such characters were created and about the lives of their creators . . . well you could if WCI actually existed.

In reality William Robert Webb III has created a fictional history for a comic book company that never was. Here you can read about this completely made up yet fascinating company.

At first the book Simply Weird: The (fake) History of Weird Comics Incorporated, a (fake) Comic Book Company will make you ask why was this written and then by the time you finish reading it you won't care.

If your into the Comic Industry, whether you into the characters, or dressing up in CosPlay, or an Artist.  You will find this book entertaining, and an easy read.  And you will actually speed though this thing in no time.

I recommend you take a peak into the world of Simply Weird.

VisionCon Takes on Branson with Huge Success.

When you think of Branson MO images of country music come to mind. But this weekend CosPlay has descended on the Music Capital. As we reach our destination, The Radisson parking lot is completely full! Storm troopers are, well, storming the hotel along with Ghostbusters and the away team from Star Trek.

This is Visioncon's 22nd year holding this event and their 1st year holding it in Branson. The lobby was packed as fans of every venue hustle and bustle in and out of the variety of different rooms.

Its not everyday that at a glance you can see a Trekkie, a Storm Trooper and a Ghostbuster all at a glance.

As I squeezed by Freddie Krueger to get to the Art room I am amazed at the talent that is in the building.  Photography was not allowed in this room but take it from me they are talented. Images ranging from fairies to Doctor Who.

On to the convention guest room where we run into our good friend author, artist, film maker, Johnno Zee of Zomular Media LLC and our own Jason Mansfield aka Binary Entertainment

As we wander the room we met several artists showcasing their work.

Nicci Fett made the long drive from NJ to come to VisionCon. She did a remarkable makeup job as she showcased her talents on herself. She was very creative as a child who grew to be fascinated by the effects in horror movies and said" I want to do that!" and so she did. Along with being an FX makeup artist she also makes props and costumes and is available for your next film project.

Ryan Wheaton, 26, from Springfield MO is an up and coming illustrator and comic book writer. This is his 2nd year at Visioncon. While talking to him I found out we are very like minded. Although a sceptic (like me) he is very open minded to the paranormal but believes in scientific proof, which there isn't much of on any subject.

The gaming room was full of different tables set up with many types of different games being played by a diverse group of people. I happened across a table of 6 playing Cards Against Humanity. Starting front left and moving clockwise around the table we have Josh, Sparky, Marie, Plummer, Robert and Rodney.

Keith Rennaker received his degree in Visual Communications from Colorado Institute of Art. He joined Associated Theatrical Contractors (ATC) in 2005. ATC supplies and services the entertainment industry. While talking with Keith, he was transforming his coworker into a werewolf

ATC offers professional theatrical Makeup classes that cover everything from makeup looks for the runway to the application of full face prosthetics. Later that day we got to see the finished transformation of the werewolf.

  I have to admit that I saw David from across the room and could not take my eyes off of him. From where I was standing he looked an awful lot like Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor Who, and being an enormous Doctor Who fan I couldn't resist a closer look. I am so glad I went over and met David. He is a super person with a great talent. His work is all original and he works in all mediums from pencil to sculpting, he does it all, and does it very well. He has designed for rock bands such as Avenged  Sevenfold, Sevendust and Wednesday 13. This was his 2nd year at Visioncon and he came prepared with many of his pieces. Please check out more of his work at;

Last but not least was headliner Ernie Hudson, AKA Winston from the movie Ghostbusters I and II. He sure did bring in the crowd. There was a line out the door.

While waiting for a lull in the crowd so that we could interview Ernie, we met Chris Canote of Canotefilms.com. He was also waiting for an interview. Chris led the interview with Ernie and ParaPalooza tagged along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atlZivBU-RI&feature=youtu.be

VisionCon was a huge success and really worth the visit. If you can make it next year I am sure you will enjoy it too.
